Johno Wells is a life-long musician, composer and sound designer from Southern California. His music “is focused on themes of textures and transitions and searching for sounds that have never been heard before.”

Johno created and hosts Modular World, a global modular synthesizer event with performers from all over the world, and he created and hosts Dotwave, a podcast dedicated to featuring genre-defying musicians and creators.

Born in the midwest, Johno was classically trained in piano as a child. “As early as I can remember in my life,” he has said, “I knew I needed to make music. And did so. It’s an inner push, a drive that I can’t put into words. It’s what I was put here to do.”

Johno Wells also happens to be my oldest friend. The photograph of the two of us above was taken by Lisa Whiteman on June 28, 2014, in the mountains outside Santa Cruz, California.

Here is Johno performing at Synthplex 2022.
